Time for Holiday Photos
Posted on 08 November 2017
I've been looking so long at these pictures of you
That I almost believe that they're real
I've been living so long with my pictures of you
That I almost believe that the pictures
Are all I can feel
Love this song! I could listen to it over and over again. Maria and I did as we drove up the California coast. Little did we know that 20 years later we would be starting up an online clothing boutique for kids.
Mia and Isabella Through the Years
Yes it's that time of year again when we start thinking of that holiday photo we'll send out. I already got my coupon for 40% off from tinyprints. Every year there are so many cool designs to choose from like making the photo an ornament, having a tri-fold book, letterpress, sparkle..... And the websites make it so easy to create something really professional looking. You just have to have the right photograph.
How should we do this?
Where are we going to take the photo? What are the kids going to wear? Will we include the dog in the photo this year? Should it be a fun photo from our vacation this summer or should we take a new one? We struggle with these questions every year. It always ends up being a fun process but a process none the less. Let us help!
When should we do this?
My deadline is usually to take the photo Thanksgiving weekend and order by the first week of December. This way I have enough time to stuff them, update my address list and get the proper stamps. We send a lot of holiday cards to Europe so I like for them to get there for the holidays.
Why do we do this?
My family laughs at me because I have these built in shelves in the living room with all of the holiday photos in various picture frames of close family members and friends - not everyone makes the wall. I actually replace every photo each year in January and people are amazed when they come over and see their photos and that they're actually recent ones. It's just a tradition that I started and I like keeping. They're our memories frozen in time.
For those of us planning to take that photograph pretty soon and still thinking of what the kids will wear, we have picked out our favorite holiday looks for your lil' rockstars. We have some dressier looks as well as everyday rockstar chic. Check out our lookbook here for more ideas.
