Holiday Photo Anyone?

Yes it's that time of year again when we start thinking of that holiday photo we'll send out. I already got my coupon for 40% off from tinyprints. Every year there are so many cool designs to choose from like making the photo an ornament, having a tri-fold book, letterpress, sparkle..... And the websites make it so easy to create something really professional looking. You just have to have the right photograph. That can sometimes be a problem.

Where are we going to take the photo? What are the kids going to wear? Will we include the dog in the photo this year? Should it be a fun photo from our vacation this summer or should we take a new one? We struggle with these questions every year. It always ends up being a fun process but a process none the less.

(A few years later when it became a little easier....)

We keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts are never broken
And time's forever frozen still

I mean isn't this why we do it? They're our memories, frozen in time. My deadline is usually to take the photo Thanksgiving weekend and order by the first week of December. This way I have enough time to stuff them, update my address list and get the proper stamps. We send a lot of holiday cards to Croatia so I like for them to get there before the end of December.

My family laughs at me because I have these built in wall shelves in the living room with all of the holiday photos, in various picture frames, of close family members and friends - not everyone makes the wall. I actually replace every photo each year in January and people are amazed when they come over and see their photos and that they're actually recent ones. It's just a tradition that I started and I like keeping.

Definitely check out this video linked above. It will get you inspired to go out and get that holiday photograph. It's such a great video of Ed Sheeran growing up and photos of him at different points in time having fun, being a kid. It inspired me to write this post about my memories. Apparently he was always into playing different instruments.
