Haunted Hayrides and Ghosts!

Posted on 04 October 2016

Yesterday we took a trip with the kids to Hicks Nurseries in Long Island.  I had never been there before, but Sabrina goes every year with her daughters for the popcorn and the hayrides, not to mention the amazing indoor/outdoor plants and holiday decorations.

Hicks Nurseries has been around since 1853 and boasts about having an extensive collection of plants, but also the best staff, gardeners and landscapers to help you find exactly what you are looking for, or to make your garden as picture worthy as an editorial in Better Homes and Gardens.

Sophia and Julia were so excited to go on their first hayride and Mia and Isabella couldn't wait to get her hands on the yummy popcorn and fresh donuts.

These two lil' Kamari Kid models had just finished our Fall/Winter 2016 Look Book Photo shoot yesterday and were so excited to see each other again.

Inside, scenes from Otto's Green Halloween,  this years theme was about recycling and doing things to help save the planet, like using your used paper bags from the grocery and recycling them into trick or treat bags.

I have to say at first Sophia was a little bit nervous because she heard there were ghosts on the hayride, but she quickly learned that they were friendly ghosts like Otto, who children love to meet and take pictures with.  Otto is there on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-12pm and 2-4pm.  Unfortunately we went on a Monday and didn't get to see the friendly ghost.

Sophia loved the farm and was already asking to come back for another hayride.  Really there were so many flowers and decorations that I think we need to go back and get more.  This time we will be bringing daddy for the hayride too.

If you live out in Long Island this is definitely a cute little farm to visit during the month of October.  Whether you are a kid or an adult there is something for everyone!

'Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?
Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene

Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of
It's our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween' ...This is Halloween, Tim Burton's, "Nightmare Before Christmas"

(Side note - my daughter has been singing this song and asking to see this movie every night...She dressed up as Jack Skellington last year and loved putting on the scary makeup...I'm in trouble)
